Now that I am a Montana resident, I am so excited to be invited to paint in this wonderful event! "Exploring Color" Workshop for painters-CANCELLED DUE TO PANDEMIC

This color workshop is part of the Eagle Plein Air Festival sponsored by Finer Frames in Eagle.

I wish I had this workshop under my belt when I started painting. We will be discussing the fundamentals of color; color harmony; understanding pigments; working with a limited palette; developing color charts; seeing color as value; using orphan colors in a limited palette; color gamut and more.

The class is suitable for beginners to very experienced painters. We will be discussing some complicated color theory topics that will help you understand color and applying unusual palettes to your paintings given the situations in the field. Painters of all mediums are welcome, however, I will be illustrating in oil colors.

This is a full day workshop with lecture, demo and hands on painting sessions.

Stay tuned for further details.

Painting Workshop

finerframes.com

Understanding Value and Color: A Warm-up for the Eagle Plein Air Competition.

Join me for my second painting workshop - a class on value was the #1 topic requested from students in my previous workshop.

Improve your understanding of value as it relates to painting. “Value” is the lightness or darkness of a color. In this full-day workshop, we will explore techniques to improve your understanding of value, shadow and light as they relate to painting. We understand an object because of how dark or light it is and its relationship to other objects. The appearance of a painting is influenced by the effect of light and atmosphere, the arrangement of darks and lights, and the harmony and balance of color. For additional information please visit the Finer Frames link above, or call the gallery at 208-888-9898.

Location: Me will meet at Eagle Island State Park in Eagle, Idaho. Class times are 9:30-4:30.
